Howdy folks! Well, it’s that time of year again. After one of the coldest winters in recent memory the good people of Brisbane are relishing the prospect of a fiercly warm Spring and Summer. Don’t let the rising temperatures get you down, though, there’s no need to sweat and squirm when there are plenty of options for keeping cool.

For those of you who need a temporary solution or have several rooms you need air conditioning for then you might want to consider portable air conditioners. These babies are perfect for when you need to take the air con unit with you, from one room or office to another, without laying out the expense of a fixed air conditioner.

Perhaps an evaporative air conditioner is more to your liking, but you’ll probably only know that once you’ve tried it.

A popular choice amongst the great people of Brisbane is the tried and true central air conditioning unit that has proven it’s worth time and time again.

Remember, unless you’re a qualified electrician with experience in air conditioning installation you’ll want to enlist the services of a reputable air conditioning contractor. These guys and gals are professionals and have dedicated a sizable portion of their lives to learning the intricacies of air conditioners.

Whichever mode of air conditioning you decide upon, you can always rely on Air Conditioners Brisbane to help you make the right decision!

While the humble residents of Brisbane are definately feeling the heat this summer we’ve decided to bring another air conditioning alternative up for discussion. Did you know about evaporative coolers?

Evaporative coolers (also called swamp, desert, or air coolers) are devices that cool air through the simple evaporation of water. They differ from refrigeration or absorption air conditioning, which use vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycles. In the United States, evaporative coolers are often called swamp coolers due to the humid air conditions produced. The name sump cooler is also used. Air washers and wet cooling towers utilize the same principles as evaporative coolers, but are optimized for purposes other than air cooling.

Evaporative cooling is especially well suited for climates where the air is hot and humidity is low. For example, in the United States, the western/mountain states are good locations, with swamp coolers very prevalent in cities like Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, El Paso and Phoenix, where sufficient water is available. Evaporative air conditioning is also popular and well suited to the southern (temperate) part of Australia. In dry climates, the installation and operating cost of an evaporative cooler can be much lower than refrigerative air conditioning, often by 80% or so. But evaporative cooling and vapor-compression air conditioning are sometimes used in combination to yield optimal performance. Some evaporative coolers may also serve as humidifiers in the heating season.

In moderate humidity locations there are many cost-effective uses for evaporative cooling, in addition to their widespread use in dry climates. For example, industrial plants, commercial kitchens, laundries, dry cleaners, greenhouses, spot cooling (loading docks, warehouses, factories, construction sites, athletic events, workshops, garages, and kennels) and confinement farming (poultry ranches, hog, and dairy) all often employ evaporative cooling. In highly humid climates, evaporative cooling may have little thermal comfort benefit beyond the increased ventilation and air movement it provides. Source

That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? I think we could all use a little evaporative cooling in our lives to cool things down a bit. Portable air conditioners are pretty awesome as well.

Need to hire a Brisbane air conditioning contractor but don’t know where to find one? The yellow pages probably isn’t a bad option but with the proliferation of Internet websites you’d think that more than a couple of air con contractors would have twigged on and provided their contact details online. Often the best referrals come from word of mouth marketing. Most of the air conditioning contractors in Brisbane will tell you this for a fact.

Choosing an Air Conditioning Contractor Service

Things to look for when engaging a specialist air conditioning contractor include checking their credentials. You’d want to make sure they’re accredited by a trustworthy body and certified as a licensed contractor. You don’t want dodgy bros and co fiddling with your precious equipment, do you? I sure don’t.

Finding the Air Con Contractor to Suit Your System

Don’t go into the process of trying to find an air con contractor without doing the necessary due diligence of knowing exactly what it is you’re looking for and what you want them to do for you. Too many times have we witnessed contractors and clients not getting along because they failed to define the scope of the engagement prior to making a start on the work. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail and it’s as simple as that. Make sure you know what you want from your contractor because it will make everyone’s life the little bit sparklier.

Are you the sort of person who likes to know what they’re doing before they do it? If so then I have little doubt you’re the type to read the instructions manual and make sure you’ve met all the necessary air conditioning guidelines before plunging into the deep end. You never know, maybe the extra effort will save you precious energy and money in the future. Most important of all, following the guidelines for your air conditioner may help prevent unnessacary injury and loss of life. Isn’t that worth reading the instructions for?

Air Conditioner Safety Guidelines

Avoid getting your air conditioner wet or leaving it exposed to the elements for prolonged periods of time. Never attempt your own repairs unless you’re a certified electrician or air conditioning specialist. If in doubt, contact your air conditioning contractor and see what advice they can give you. Make sure your system has been approved as being standards compliant and safe for use. Most importantly of all, never treat your air conditioners like toys as this is all too frequently a recipe for disaster.

Advice for Operating Electrical Heating and Cooling Devices

Don’t get caught short. Make certain you know how to safely operate your air conditioner before putting it into use. You would have been taught as a youngster that electrical devices can be dangerous so don’t muck around with them. If you’re still not sure on which way to go we recommend doing some more research or getting in touch with someone who can shine more light on the subject of air conditioning guidelines. Your world will be a brighter place.

Everybody likes a little downtime, don’t they? Not if they happen to be webmasters or data centre operators! Even the slightest technical glitch can cause computers to malfunction and data centres frequently run the risk of overheating their CPUs. If this happens, you might have a crisis on your hands if you or your clients lose valuable customers or even worse, information records are deleted and lost forever. Factoring all of this together it’s not wonder that data centre air conditioning is high on the priorities of the folks who know what they’re doing.

Colocated data centres are another target of the misery of temperature. With all those machines running in such a concentrated space you’d better believe that it gets hot! Keeping your servers cool is the key to maintaining maximum uptime for happy customers. The employees at any ISP (Internet Service Provider) will tell you they pay careful attention to their air conditioning setups so as to avoid any critical mishaps.

Having an outdoor event and need to keep your patrons and party guests at a comfortable temperature? No worries, you just need to figure out the subject of air conditioning for marquees. How many times has it happened to you? You’ve got everything set up for your marquee party and then your entire entourage melts in the heat? Nobody wants to clean up that mess so you’d better get it sorted out ahead of time. Another common problem with air conditioning marquees is that it can get cold in the great outdoors, you may wish to warm things up a little to have a cool time. We all know Brisbane can get hot.

What is a Marquee and Where Does Air Conditioning Come Into Play?

The word marquee can be used to refer to many things but in this case we’re interested in those larger tents that people set up so they can enjoy the space of an outdoor setting without lending themselves vulnerable to quirks of nature. Marquis is an altogether different word and not pertinant to this discussion. The weather can be a fickle mistress at time, that’s where the marquee comes in handy. A portable or outdoor air conditioner can also help to keep things cool.

Traditional Pole Marquees – consist of canvas and more recently PVC, under tension by means of centre poles, side poles and guy ropes which are attached to ground stakes hammered into soft surfaces only such as a lawn or field. Hand made of white cotton canvas, traditional poled marquees are more attractive but much less practical and versatile than aluminium frame marquees. The modern PVC traditional pole marquee was introduced due to the material being easier to clean than woven canvas and giving them a longer hire life span.

Aluminium Frame Marquees – Aluminium frame tents have no centre poles or guy ropes, can be erected on any surface and adjacent to buildings or annexe tents. Much more stable and can span a much wider area over pools, flower beds or trees.

Typical 20′x20′ High Peak Frame Tent set up at Events Party & Tent Rentals for Demonstration

A newer category of the Marquee/Party tents is the High Peak Frame Tents (known by several brand names like “frame & cable”, “vista”, “pinnacle”, etc). These tents have the advantage of the pole tents with the high top, ease of installation, cleaner look, and fewer parts. They also have the advantage of the Frame Tents as they do not have support pole(s) on the inside of the tent that touches the ground. The high top look is accomplished by using a “floating pole”, which is a pole that sits on cables that run across the tent interior from the top of the sides. Most tent manufactures are now making these tents and they come in a variety of sizes and shapes that can be joined together to meet the needs of unique space requirements.

Now that you know what it is, you would be wanting to get your hands on some air conditioners so you can help regulate the air temperature and provide for a nice environment for you and your guests. You might consider leasing air conditioning or renting a portable air conditioner to satisfy your needs.

Got any marquee air conditioning horror stories to tell? Perhaps you air conditioned your marquee with astonishing aplomb and want to share your proud tale!

Being a scientist can be a frustrating job, especially when your lab starts overheating. All manner of things can go wrong if you’re unable to maintain a constant temperature. This is the number one reason why laboratory air conditioning is a must have for today’s budding scientists. Private research labs, medical labs all the way through to high school science laboraties need a little help when it comes to controlling the environment in which their experiments are taking place.

Laboratory Fume Exhaust Air Conditioners

Another good reason to have lab air conditioners is for very important safety reasons. Oftentimes whole laboratories can get smoked out with nasty gas if you don’t have the necessary ventilation and air conditioning exhaust system set up to remove toxic vapours and fumes from the area.

Can you think of other good reasons for having laboratory air conditioning? Any positive or negative reviews or arguments against lab air conditioners?

What is an air conditioning exhaust and how will it affect your family? If someone asked you, what would you say the greatest dangers of inadequate exhaust systems on air conditioners in this day and age? Have you ever wondered whether you should leave the exhaust outlet on when you leave your air conditioning unit running? All these and more are questions relating to air conditioning exhaust, but first, a bit of a warning:

There are many known dangers linking an automobile ventilation system to the breathable air inside a car. The most common and undetectable is when air-conditioning exhaust fumes slowly seep into the ventilation system of a car. While this might cause a prevalent odor, there is no evidence linking the inhalation of this smell to any medical or health risk.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_system

A split portable air conditioner is ideal for any room in the home, office, conservatory etc as unlike other portable units there is no need to leave a door or window wide open. The exhaust air outlet will hang outside the window or you can drill a hole directly through an external wall to accommodate the quick coupling, for a permanent fixing.

It’s important to note with air conditioner exhausts that you don’t want to get the wrong one for your present needs. Incompatibility amongst leading brands could be a hindrance to you as you strive to perfect your ventilation and air conditioning system.

Want to acquire an air conditioner for your home or business without the hassles of purchasing one outright? Perhaps air conditioning leasing is something you should consider. You might wish to get some financial advice as to the tax benefits of leasing and how that might affect your decision. Review your options before you do anything and take your current situation and economic climate before taking action.

Air Conditioner Lease Options

You will want to be aware of the contractual stipulations invoked when leasing air conditioners in Brisbane as you don’t want to get caught out on the fine print. Your air conditioner salesperson should be able to walk you through the details of your leasing contract but make sure you go over it a couple of times. If you’re really concerned about the legalities involved in leasing air conditioning units then you may wish to consider engaging a lawyer, or becoming a registered attorney yourself, so as to avoid be sold into a bum deal.

Portable vs Central Air Conditioning Leases

The make and model of the air conditioners you lease are up to you. It makes sense to lease a portable air conditioner if you’re planning on cooling or heating a given area for a finite period of time. That way you can just roll it back to the shop when you no longer need it. Central air conditioners might make more sense if you have an appropriate application for it.

What’s your experience with air conditioning leases? Had any trouble leasing an air conditioner?
